PopUps Friend or Enemy?

You’ve made the decision that you would like to learn about something, so you do a Google search. You choose one of the websites chosen for you by Google and click its link. Then, once the page finishes loading, surprise! Rather than getting to dig into your subject material that you’d been hoping to see so that you can go on learning about your chosen subject, you are given a big giant pop up ad. This is an ad that refuses to be shut down no matter how hard you try–until you enter your e-mail address into it. Eventually you just shut down your browser totally because you get so irked. The website operator has won!
There is a good rationale that a lot of people loathe pop ups. They are really annoying. They intrude on what you are endeavoring to do. The kinds that play sound might find yourself getting you in trouble with your boss (or someone else in the room). They make unrealistic claims. They demand that you enter personal information into them if you want them to close. Sometimes they will put in cookies or other malware on your pc. There are certainly not very many people who actually like coming across pop-ups and yet most IMers continue to use them. Why?
The sorry and simple truth is that Internet Marketers use pop-up ads because they work. They get the viewers attention. They allow them to create e-mail marketing and advertising lists. It’s been proven again and again that pop-up ads get more opt ins than a normal opt in box put into the sidebar or even into the body of a website. They have sometimes been known to help you produce sales. Sadly, these dumb pests actually get the job done a lot of the time so, unless someone can make a better tool to use, most Web marketers are probably going to keep using them.
Of course, that doesn’t imply that most Internet Marketers should continue to use them. What is the value of an e-mail address that was only gotten through duress? Most of the time that person will choose to opt out of your list once they get their first e-mail. Can your traffic be of good quality when most of it clicks out of your internet site because they are offended by the pop ups assaulting them? Of course you want to earn a living but really–is that the only strategy to do it? There ought to be a better option for someone who wants to make and build an e-mail list to help them sell things.
The genuine truth is this: if you have an excellent product and you can present it in a good light, you won’t have to use a pop up. Concentrate on making a very high quality product so that you don’t have to depend on irritating pop up ads to do the job for you. Write a persuasive sales page or splash page. Catch the reader’s focus and then refuse to give it back over the energy of your written content and copy. The real truth is that a web Marketer will only find success and profit online if he or she creates something that someone else finds valuable. No pop-up ad can actually change the actual value of your product.
